I know the stereotype about teenagers: all they do is party, do drugs, get drunk, they are not responsible and they are slackers. Well, I am a teenager, and I have come to feel like that is true, especially since I have turned 18.

I understand the want and the need to have fun, especially for people my age. It’s what growing up is all about- having fun, which turns into too much fun, you get into trouble, and you learn from your mistakes. Now, I am not even pretending to be perfect because I know that I am not, but recently I have been feeling like there are no good (meaning responsible, and legal fun- loving) people my age left in the world, and if there are, they are religious. Please note, though, that I mean no offense whatsoever to those who are religious and involved in their church. I respect those are religious and those who are not. But the fact of the matter is that I am not religious and even my few friends who are tend to be very hypocritical. They claim to be religious and very involved in their churches, but on the weekends they go out partying with their friends, get drunk, and have sex! And honestly, I don’t judge people who like to party and be wild once in a while. But what about people like me who aren’t very into that and would much rather be with a bunch of friends eating and watching movies (I know I’m a lame teenager, but what can I say? I love the little things =)?

And relationships are so tough right now. It seems like couples fall in “love” so fast nowadays. But I’m not ready for love. I don’t even want to get married until I’m in my mid- 20’s. And my family are the only people who think I am being “level-headed.” But to people my age, I’m probably psychotic.

So where does that leave me? Where do I fit in? I guess I’ll just have to figure it out during this huuuuuuge, lifelong journey
